At Creative Council, we aim to merge talent and real-world strategies by sharing artistic skills, market knowledge, expressive challenges, and connections. For 7 days, you live, paint, and learn alongside art fellows, explore your signature style, visit Tania’s studio, get professional guidance, and, of course, have a great time with Portuguese culture, nature, and lots of good talks.

Experimenting with artistic expression,not your career

In the art process, there are so many ‘if only’s’. ‘If only I knew that sooner, I’d get there faster / I’d do it differently / I wouldn’t spend time on this’ – you name it. From that, our commitment was born: to get artists from ‘if only I knew’ to actually knowing. Because where you can (and should) experiment with style and artistic process, you can stop experimenting with progress.

For that, Creative Council includes art classes (obviously): to learn art processes and approaches, get some useful tips, and experiment a lot with your style. And you don’t need to bring any art supplies, just so you know. But also, there are talks, seminars, mentorship, networking. All to answer the question “Can you explain how you’ve done it?” with not plain words, but the experience of artists and fundamental knowledge of market experts. Yes, of those people who’ve answered the questions before. And no, this is not another workshop or an art retreat.

What is, then?

Picture this: six days of hands-on masterclasses, incisive marketing seminars, and one-on-one mentoring that cut through the noise of the art market and inner conflicts. You’re not just refining your technique (but that as well, of course); you’re crafting your own narrative, experimenting, discovering your signature style, surrounded by a community that’s as passionate and driven as you are. No art school clichés, like ‘Business is something you’ll think of later’ because, well, let’s face it: ‘later’ has already transformed into ‘now’. Here, your growth is grounded in real, inspirational, and practical. The market is not a mystical beast, but you can use some guidance, and we want to give you a tour with the tour managers who have slayed the beast already.

Tania Rivilis

Art Mentor

Tania Rivilis is a contemporary figurative artist, with her expressive language focusing on color, texture, and character. Tania’s paintings are now part of museums, galleries, and private collections, displayed on billboards in Times Square and around the world. In 2022 Tania received the William Lock Prize at the Royal Portrait Society for the most timeless portrait, and in 2023 had her first show at Christie´s London.

A spot for a participating artist: you learn from the mentors, have masterclasses and personal sessions, and spend time like it’s a long-needed holiday. We got you covered: a private bedroom all for yourself, good food, art supplies for the classes, and breathtaking Portuguese views. All you need to do is get the ticket and come here already.

A spot for a non-participating partner who doesn’t share your desire for an art career, but also wants to ace the vacation with breathtaking Portuguese views. Your guest doesn’t participate in the educational program but has fun with the whole team and shares a bedroom with you in a beautiful historical place. And while artists study hard during classes, the guests can have all the fun they want (and we’ll help with that) – the sky is the limit.

    How this works

    1. Since the Council spots are limited, the first 15 people to join the waitlist will get heads-on once the spots are available for purchase: they will receive an invitation to secure their ticket.

    2. The lucky 15 will get the link for purchase, and we will expect some action within 72 hours.

    3. If any of the first 15 participants wish not to secure their spot, the spot goes further to the next in line on the waiting list.

    FAQ

    The Council is not an art retreat, nor is it a traditional workshop. Our goal here is not for artists to copy step-by-step the master’s techniques but to explore ways to create their signature style. We focus on artistic skill and market knowledge, studying the mindset and sharing with the supportive team, cultivating professional and personal development. You learn from modern masters, honor the foundations, and play around with what’s going to be your thing.

    But this is not a boot camp where we’ll drill you to sweat. We still want you to have a holiday and a good rest, talk openly about what moves you and laugh a lot, smell the ocean, see the cliffs, taste some good wine, and listen to Fado. We believe that creativity and inspiration are key to any development.

    Study hard, rest hard with your team for 7 days straight. The whole team lives together, learns new stuff together, has late-night discussions on the hot topics and beefs it has with the art market (we all know what those are, right?). We want you to feel you’re a part of the wonderful community, to develop connections with fellow artists and industry insiders, and just have a great time. The art process is a living and breathing thing, and we want us all to explore it together.

    Well, that’s the whole point: We’ll make sure that is the only kind of knowledge you get from us (apart from silly stuff like why people hiccup – that is our mentors’ special domain, so just go with it). Art exists in a real world with real-life rules and processes, so we focus on the things that help you develop professionally, personally, and leave your mark in the art world.

    The Creative Council is for emerging and established artists who want to elevate their craft and navigate the art market with confidence. It’s for those who want to master technical skills, build meaningful industry connections, and understand the intricacies of the art world (and those things just never end, whether you’ve been on the market for 1 month or 10 years, they just differ in forms and approaches).

    We will live in a genuine Portuguese Quinta – a rural estate away from the noise but right in the center of all the necessary things to see and try in the country. The place is fully renovated for a comfortable stay but has preserved its cultural ambiance. The place belongs only to us throughout the Council, so it’s a perfect spot to learn, relax, and focus on what’s important – your art fellas around you.

    In certain circumstances, we may need to change the location of your accommodation. Rest assured, any alternative provided will be of the same comfort level to ensure your stay remains enjoyable.
